The primary aims of the program are:
  • to emphasise the management of change and new opportunities rather than administration of established practices
  • to develop a concentration on the planning and control of rapid business growth
  • to devote constant attention to integrating knowledge through interdisciplinary approaches, rather than separating knowledge into functional specialties
  • to commit to the notion of  'theory for practice’s sake' - applying leading-edge theory to seek practical solutions to complex real-world problems
It has been shown that graduates of this integrated program are capable of starting, developing and managing new business opportunities to achieve company growth.

The Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Honours) consists of four semesters of full-time study (12 weeks x four units of study) or the equivalent by part-time study. Students are required to complete 16 units of study (or equivalent), including 12 core MEI units of study and four elective units of study (or equivalent). Nominated honours units of study are both Stage 3 core units of study and all elective units of study. Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time.

The award of Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Honours) will be subject to:
  • the successful completion of 16 units of study (or equivalent), and
  • the attainment of a 70 per cent average over the final eight units of study (or 100 credit points) undertaken, or
  • the attainment of a 75 per cent average over the final four units of study (or 50 credit points) undertaken
A student who completes 16 units of study (or 200 credit points) but does not satisfy these performance criteria will be awarded the degree of Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEI).

Units of study are taught in either traditional mode of one (2.75 hours) class per week over a 12-week semester or in ‘block mode’ (usually six days over a 12-week period). Students are expected to spend a minimum of the equivalent class contact hours per week in private study and/or team project work.

AGSE is committed to the principles of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Our philosophy of 'Learning Through Experience' recognises that learning takes place through a variety of means including formal studies at universities, other accredited institutions and private providers, employer-based training and development, and relevant experience gained within the workforce.

Undergraduate units are ineligible as a basis for subject exemptions, however, students with a major sequence of study in a relevant discipline will have the option of completing an additional elective as a substitution. Applications for RPL should accompany the enrolment application.

International students should bring certified copies of documentation supporting any claim for exemption.

In 2008, tuition fees for this program are based on $2300 per 12.5 credit point unit of study. In the event that a unit of study is derived from another program, the applicable fee will be that of the other program. All fees are reviewed each year and may increase without notice.

The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income contingent loans for Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent resident humanitarian visas. FEE-HELP (previously PELS) is for eligible fee paying undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with a loan to cover their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $80,000 indexed annually).

Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans. These students must pay their student contributions or tuition fees up front without a discount.
