Course Description:
The Diploma of Tourism (Operations Management) is completed over two years full-time with dual qualifications that include the Diploma of Event Management. A strong focus on experiential learning is applied through learning activities which include participation in Yarra Valley and regional events and attractions, and major events, festivals and exhibitions. The final semester incorporates practical work placement in preparation for employment opportunities. In the second year, students also have the option to gain a Diploma of Sustainability at no extra cost. On completion of studies students can access pathways into Bachelor of Business (Tourism & Management)/Diploma of Hospitality (Management) or participate in the 'London Experience', an international opportunity. Applicants who have successfully completed VETiS Hospitality studies receive credit transfers.
Aims & Objectives:
This dual diploma aims to develop a broad awareness and understanding into the Tourism and Events Industry and provide participants with the knowledge and skills to manage and work within the operations sector.

Career Opportunities:
Employment as operations or attractions manager, operations consultant, tour co-ordinator, specialist guide, event manager or function coordinator.
Entry Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of an appropriate Victorian Year 12 or its equivalent, or mature age.
Credit Transfer:
Applicants with prior tertiary studies that satisfy part of the academic requirements of this course may be granted 'credit' and/or entry to the course with 'advanced standing'. Pathways (articulation):
An advanced credit transfer system, known as the Pathways program, is in place at Swinburne. Through Pathways, students with one or more of a wide range of post-secondary qualifications (both local and international) can gain entry into a course with advanced standing. Certain subject requirements must be met and an acceptable standard of results achieved in order to gain admission and for maximum credit to be granted. Recognition of Prior Learning:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Course Fees:
